How to renovate your home in an eco-friendly way

Anyone looking for eco-friendly cladding should look to invest in Cedral cladding.

A high-performance material cladding, it is strong and thin and looks great on any property. It’s also durable, sustainable and low maintenance.

Here we explain exactly what this new cutting-edge style of cladding is – and why it’s an excellent choice for your home this winter and beyond:

What is Cedral cladding?

Cedral cladding is boarding for the exterior of your home that looks like wood but is actually comprised of fibre cement. This makes the boards lightweight and exceptionally durable (certainly, they will last a lot longer than timber will and won’t require a fraction of the maintenance involved either).

The materials which comprise Cedral cladding include sand, cement, chalk, and cellulose. This makes the cladding extremely sustainable and eco-friendly. The fact there are few raw materials, energy and water used in their manufacture also add to its ‘green’ credentials.

Cladding available in a choice of colours

You can choose from a selection of colours for your Cedral external panels – up to four different colour ranges and shades, in fact. That’s in addition to a couple of wood stains in either wood grain or smooth finish. The planks can be placed either vertically or horizontally, depending on your preference.

@CedralUK:”Cedral will help add kerb appeal to any project. Available in a traditional shiplap style and a contemporary flush-fitted design, wood effect or smooth finish.”

The water-based acrylic paint is high quality, UV-resistant and applied in the factory, so you don’t have to worry about applying it yourself. To keep the panels clean, all you have to do is wash them with a cloth and soapy water every now and again.

The weatherboards have a minimum life expectancy of up to 50 years – so you can forget about having to replace them for decades. The boards are long-lasting because they are heat and frost-resistant. This means that, thankfully, dry or wet is a thing of the past. They won’t break, become deformed or warp when exposed to harsh winter weather or strong summer sun, either. Nor can the boards be chewed by mice or rats, while insects or other pests won’t have an effect on them either.

And once they do come to the end of their life cycle, the boards can then be recycled to produce new cement materials.

Giving your home the ‘wow’ factor

Estate agents confirm that having Cedral cladding on your property makes it easier to sell. That’s because it really does look great from the outside. And, once your potential buyers learn how little maintenance is involved together with the durability of the material well, they are easily won over.

Then there is the fact that Cedral cladding comes with a high fire performance classification, meaning you can rest easily at night without having to worry about an electrical spark or similar triggering a blaze.
