Turn your conservatory into the ultimate man cave

In previous blog posts, we have covered some of the many popular uses of conservatories, such as home gyms, dining rooms, play areas and more. In this post, we are going to discuss how to transform your conservatory into the ultimate “man cave”, a term used to refer to “a male sanctuary within the home”. Despite the name, man caves can be perfect for women too! Here are some of the things you may wish to include in your conservatory man cave.

1 – Excellent seating

Whether you’re watching a movie or playing video games with a cold beer, one thing you will need is comfortable, luxurious seating. A leather reclining sofa is an connoisseur’s choice – simply sit back, relax and prepare to destroy your opponents in digital warfare! Additionally, you may wish to recline back and look at the stars out of your conservatory roof – this can be particularly relaxing after a hard day at the office.

2 – Mini fridge

For soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and unhealthy snacks, every man cave needs a mini fridge. It is always a good idea to position the fridge close to the seating so that you never have to get up and grab something. However, be careful not to place the cable in a precarious position – if you have a rug you may wish to run the cable underneath it; or you can run it along the wall.

3 – Pool/poker table

For the times when you’re bored of digital entertainment and want to rejoice in a social atmosphere, a pool and/or poker table is a great addition to a man cave. However, it’s worth remembering that pool, glass conservatory windows and alcohol are not a good combination – so be careful if you’re thinking of playing after a few beers! Table football is another great option when it comes to socialising in your “man cave”.

4 – Window blinds

In order to make sure that your conservatory is the ultimate sanctuary, blinds need to be integrated. Ironically, conservatories are popular because they allow in so much natural light, but this can be detrimental if you’re trying to top your best scores on the Xbox! Blinds are also essential for keeping your conservatory cool during the summer so you can relax and enjoy the festivities without overheating.

5 – Ideal flooring

If you’re likely to invite your friends over on a regular basis, it’s important to choose a type of conservatory flooring which won’t be impacted by large amounts of traffic. For more information on the different types of flooring and their advantages/disadvantages, check out our previous post on the subject. Laminate flooring is often a good choice as it is affordable, waterproofed, easy to clean and can replicate a plethora of different styles from the natural world – such as the ever popular oak.
