What our Which? Trusted Trader Accreditation means for you

When you call in a tradesmen to work on your home or office, you want to be sure they’re going to do a good job and charge you the right price for the work that’s been done. Though the vast majority of tradesmen are honest and hardworking, there are some out there who’s standard of work leaves a lot to be desired.

The best way to ensure the tradesman you choose is up to scratch is to select someone with Which? Trusted Trader accreditation. Used by thousands of people across the country, the system allows customers to quickly and easily find professionals they can rely on.

What is a Which? Trusted Trader?

As Which Trusted Traders says, “Which? Trusted Traders was set up to recognise those traders that provide a high standard of service to their customers, treat them fairly and have all the correct processes and procedures in place.” Most participants in the scheme are small or medium sized companies and most work on domestic or small commercial projects.

As Which? is a respected and long-established consumer champion, it’s trusted by customers and tradesmen alike. This makes an accreditation from the organisation all the more important and shows a business offers real quality and value for money.

Becoming a Trusted Trader

Becoming a trusted trader isn’t easy. Firstly, the organisation carries out a full credit check on the applicant to make sure their finances are in order. They also check that procedures are in place for customer payments to be made and that transactions are carried out in a fair and ethical way. Which? then selects previous customers at random to ensure satisfaction is at a good level. The organisation checks that works that’s been carried out is of a high standard and that customers were happy with the service they received.

Businesses then get a personal visit from a Which? Trusted Trader assessor to ensure everything at the company is in order. Finally, applicants must agree to abide by the Which? Trusted Trader guidelines and to maintain a high standard of working.

Giving customers peace of mind

One of the most important reasons we became a Which? Trusted Trader is that it offers customers peace of mind. If customers know that they can rely on their tradesmen to do a good job and to charge them fairly, they’ll be a lot happier and more relaxed while the job is underway.
